Favorite's Friday: DePiano Skin Therapeutic Buffing Creme

Happy Favorite's Friday to you! This week I bring to you a new favorite of mine by DePiano Skin. Deborah DePiano is the owner of DePiano Skin here in the Beverly Hills area, and she has been featured in many, many magazines such as Vogue, Real Simple, Allure, New Beauty, etc. and has also been featured in a few segments on FOX11 here in Los Angeles. She is acknowledged as one of the foremost aesthetic practitioners and is an expertise in skin care. Deborah is "the face behind the faces!"

DePiano Skin's Therapeutic Buffing Creme is great for sensitive skin. It gently exfoliates delicate skin as well as nourishes dry, dehydrated skin.  After the first use, my skin felt clean, smooth and hydrated!

Sometimes exfoliating scrubs can be too rough on the skin and can leave tiny lacerations behind... but not this one! This scrub was perfect for my skin and I am very happy with the results. DePiano Skin's Therapeutic Buffing Creme can be purchased by emailing DePianoskin@aol.com or calling 310.289.7792.

Permanent Makeup - Beauty for the New Millennium

Article about Athena in West of Twin Peaks Observer in the early 2000s
Permanent Makeup - Beauty for the New Millennium

At the turn of the millennium, the demand for beauty services continues to rise. Permanent makeup is at the leading edge of the demand, according to Athena Karsant, of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals. A healthy economy, more disposable income, our media driven culture and the graying of the Baby Boomers has led to an explosive increase in the demand for cosmetic services to help us look our best.

Permanent makeup, also known as intradermal cosmetics, is a cosmetic tattooing procedure. It is used to create a lasting, beautiful enhancement of the lips, eyes, brows, and to compliment the surgical reconstruction of damaged features. When the Society started in 1991 with 61 members, the idea of tattooed makeup was met with skepticism. Today, women are the fastest growing tattooing market and demand for permanent makeup has grown. The society has more than 700 members worldwide who perform thousands of permanent makeup procedures annually.

Permanent makeup is for people with allergiesto conventional cosmetics, those with difficulty applying their own makeup, women who are active, sports-minded, have hair loss and busy women who don’t have time to apply makeup. Anyone who wants to look attractive is a candidate for permanent makeup, including misplaced pigment, poor color choice, accidental injury or infection. All these problems can be avoided by going to a properly qualified technician. Technician members of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals receive continuing education and conform to the highest levels of professional practice in the industry.

Athena Karsant is a permanent cosmetic specialist who has been in business for over 10 years (in 2013 - she has been in business for 20+ years) in the San Francisco area (and now in Beverly Hills) and is a member in good standing of the SPCP. She can be reached at 415-412-9700. For more information on permanent cosmetics, visit FoolingMotherNature.com.

Favorite's Fridays - Apple Cider Vinegar

About a month ago, I posted an article on my Facebook and Twitter about how Scarlett Johansson uses Apple Cider Vinegar on her face. I thought that it would be fun to try, so I did. I got my daughter hooked on it, too, and now we love it!

We use it just like we would a normal toner. It is very smelly, but it's not awful. I even mixed it with some astringent to cut the smell.

We keep it in the fridge so that it is cold on our skin. The acidity of the apple cider vinegar balances your natural pH levels gives your skin a beautiful glow just like a normal toner would. However, there are no harsh chemicals in it, and it costs just a few dollars!

It is also great for your hair - vinegar makes your hair shiny! (Just use a tiny drop of conditioner afterwards to get the vinegar smell out of your hair)

You can purchase it at any grocery store!

Thanks Scarlett! We love your skin & love using Apple Cider Vinegar!
